Recently I helped out with the Away Day exhibition by assisting Ioanna with her installation (pictured above). The experience was great. I got to talk to her about how she funded her work and how she got involved with the project. She made jewelry that she sold mainly in Athens (she is Greek) and exhibited in both Greece and London. The sun was hot and the park was pretty quiet, unusual for a sunny day in the city. All I could think about was how jealous I was, watching her living a life I dream of. How could I, the rationalist, build my life around solely making art to get by? Ioanna inspired me to carry on making art after art foundation because it made me happy. Since I quit my course I felt quite empty; I thought it was boredom and lack of social interaction, but after spending time with Ioanna I realised that it was because I needed to make again, sew, draw, write, get inspired.
